What does the SURFboard Central app do? ›

The SURFboard Central app is designed to get the most out of your SURFboard device. Now with an updated UI for all our Cable Modem, Cable Gateways (Modem with integrated Wi-Fi) and mAX Mesh router devices. Use our App to get your device up and running and to securely and easily manage your network!

The ARRIS SURFboard Manager app offers users the ability to manage SURFboard Wi-Fi products directly from a mobile device. Once the mobile device is connected, the app can be used to view connected devices in the home network, manage parental controls and wireless networks.

Download the SURFboard Central app from the app store on an Apple or Android mobile device. Tap the SURFboard icon then tap the Get Started button. The Allow notification pop-up will appear. It is required to enable Location Services in the SURFboard Central app to perform first-time setup installation.

New customers - please start with SURFboard Central App for onboarding and managing your device. If you already completed onboarding, no worries - you will be prompted to seamlessly transfer all your information to the new App.

If your Wi-Fi password is cracked, hackers can change the password and lock you out of your home Wi-Fi. Using the manufacturer's default password: Wi-Fi hackers can use the manufacturer's default admin password to gain access to your router and change its settings.

On your internet browser (Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.), in the URL, type in the address bar “192.168. 0.1 ” and it will then prompt you to enter in username and password to access the modem settings. The modem will automatically power on when the power adapter is connected. After the modem is successfully connected to the network, the LED indicator illuminates a solid green or blue to indicate that the modem is online and fully operational.

The ARRIS Home screen will appear. On the SURFboard home screen, tap the Menu icon on the top-left corner. The sliding menu will appear. On the sliding menu, tap on PARENTAL CONTROL.

How to activate SURFboard modem? ›

It is required to activate the SURFboard cable modem using the HFC MAC Address and the serial number located at the bottom of the device with the Internet service provider. Contact Service Provider - Tap to call the Internet service provider and activate the SURFboard cable modem.

By changing your DNS to Safe Surfer, you can decide to block particular categories of websites. If a website is blocked, you'll receive the IP address of our block page instead of the website itself. You can also configure Safe Surfer to pretend blocked sites don't exist (NXDOMAIN) to make protection more invisible.
