Silver Haze is one of the most popular morning and daytime smokes among cannabis lovers. Find out all you need to know about this legendary sativa hybrid.
Silver Hazeby Sensi Seeds follows in the footsteps of the legendary Haze. She is right up there among the best cannabis seeds for home-growers. Silver Haze does away with the downsides of growing this family of long-flowering sativas, yet delights with all the qualities that made Haze one of the most beloved strains of all time.
CHARACTERISTICS OF SILVER HAZE
For a long time, growing Haze indoors was challenging, if not impossible, for most cannabis cultivators. With Silver Haze, Sensi Seeds has tamed the beast and brings the joy of growing these popular sativas to the masses.
Genetics | Sativa-dominant |
Parents | Northern Lights, Haze |
THC | 14–22%+ |
CBD | 0.10% |
Flavours | Earthy, Sweet, Citrus, Wood |
Effects | Heady, Creative, Uplifting, Happy |
In an attempt to cut back on the flowering time and difficulty of the original Haze, Sensi Seeds crossed the specimen with Northern Lights. The resulting sativa-leaning hybrid (75% sativa) retains the desired traits of the original, but doesn’t take as long to finish.
Silver Haze has medium-high THC levels ranging from 14–22%. She maintains the strong heady effect that earned Haze her legendary status as a wake-and-bake smoke. She also kept the typical Haze flavours (think sweetness and wood) as well as the outstanding resin production that inspired the “Silver” part of her name.
HOW TO GROW SILVER HAZE
Silver Haze is a great deal easier to grow and keep under control than the original Haze. However, it is still not an “easy” strain by any means. We characterise Silver Haze as having a medium growing difficulty.
Grow Difficulty | Intermediate |
Best suitable to grow | Indoors / Outdoors |
Climate | Sunny, Warm |
Variety | Feminized |
Height Indoor | Medium |
Height Outdoor | Tall |
Flowering Time | 9–11 Weeks |
Harvest period (outdoor) | Mid to Late October |
Yield Indoor | 400g/m² |
Yield Outdoor | 430g+ per plant |
Like other Hazes, Silver Haze will stretch considerably when the plant goes into flowering. Although the strain may not reach the towering heights of other Hazes, growers can still expect the plant to triple in height. Cultivators can see very good results growing Silver Haze in a ScrOG (screen of green) setup, which will keep plants in check while maximising yields.
Growing Silver Haze also means cultivators need to keep an eye on humidity levels during bloom, as the strain’s compact buds are susceptible to mould and mildew. Good air circulation should be in place.
Indoors, growers can expect average yields of about 400g/m². Flowering time has been greatly reduced thanks to the Afghan genetics from Northern Lights. Now, she matures her buds in 9–11 weeks—short for an (almost pure) Haze!
Grown outdoors, where Silver Haze does best in a hot and sunny climate, cultivators can look forward to yields in the mid/upper 400g region for each plant. She is ready to harvest from around mid to late October.
SILVER HAZE: FLAVOUR & EFFECTS
Silver Haze has an intense aroma redolent of pine cones. She blends this with citrus fragrances and subtle grassy notes into a pungent earthy scent.
Carrying these notes over to her taste, Silver Haze delivers a particularly rich and flavourful smoke. On the inhale, her flowers leave notes of citrus and earth on the tongue. On the exhale, more woody pine notes come to the fore and last for quite some time.
Silver Haze produces a very strong head high that is happy, invigorating, stimulating, and productive. Delivering quite a cerebral buzz when smoked, thanks to THC levels that can reach 24–25% in some phenos, she still leaves the smoker with a clear head. This makes Silver Haze a good morning and daytime smoke, considered by many to be one of the best wake-and-bake strains.
She produces a happy effect that makes her ideal for all kinds of occasions and great to share with others. As she boosts creativity and inspires without the heavy stone, she is especially well-liked by musicians and other artistically inclined people.
Then again, with her pronounced heady effect, she may not be the best choice for those with a low THC tolerance. Likewise, smokers not used to the cerebral effects of potent sativas may want to take it slow with this strain.
SILVER HAZE: FINAL VERDICT
A Haze with all the winning qualities of the original, but without the drawbacks when it comes to growing? Yes please! For Haze lovers, this sure is one of the best Hazes you can grow!
