TDoN is a tactical turn-based RPG which plays just like other games of this genre. The main difference is that there is very crude humor that will have you cringe more often than not. There are a lot of jokes and banter between extremely stereotypical party members that I personally just skipped or muted. You can either skip or listen to the narration/cutscenes, as there is a ton of it in this game as mentioned. I recommend listening to it for the first playthrough if you care about the 'story' (if you can handle the ridiculousness of it).
Achievements
First off, we have some general achievements that you can get at any time throughout the game. For the missable achievements, those are in the walkthrough and flagged.

Sowwy!
Hurt two of your party members with the Elf's attacks
1 guide
To get this one, you need to hit two teammates with the Elf's ricochet ability. You can do this anytime, but it is likely to happen naturally on Nightmare with the RNG. You can also upgrade the skill to make it easier.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
DM intervention
Finish a combat with a character on 1 HP
For this one, you need to win a battle with a character on 1 HP. This is easy, as it should come naturally. The best way to get it is to let a party member get knocked down early in the game, then win the fight. The party member will auto resurrect with a few HP (sometimes 1), setting you up for the next fight.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friendly fire
Hit one of your companions with friendly fire while being drunk
1 guide
Similar to the previous one, this one is also easy to set up. Drink a bottle of liquor during the fight, then use any ability/attack that can hit your own teammates.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pyrrhic victory
Finish a combat with a level 3 injury on every character
1 guide
Another easy one to get. If you let the KO countdown expire, your party member will 'die' then come back after the fight with a Level 3 injury. Let the whole party take turns dying over the span of two to three fights, then win any battle without healing them. It is recommended to do this on non-Ironman for obvious reasons. It can be done on Nightmare. I went into an easier fight with all Level 3 injuries and managed to win. YOU WILL void the 'Death is for Wimps' achievement however. You cannot get both unless you reload a save back to before the first death.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for the missables. Read my description for each one. The collectable missables are in the collectable page of this walkthrough.
Death is for wimps
Complete the base game without ever having one of your characters knocked out.
1 guide
For this one, you cannot let a party member get knocked out. This is DIFFERENT than being knocked down. Once HP hits 0 you get knocked down and a timer appears. Once that timer hits 0, you are knocked out and forfeit the achievement. It has been tested and CONFIRMED that you can finish a fight with a party member knocked down and still pop this.

It's been a hard day's night
Complete all Mel Boots quests in one save
2 guides
This is the easiest one to mess up, as the wording is off for this. You must do what he asks you to do, NOT just complete the quests. This game has an interesting quest system in that if you do not satisfy the quest giver, the quest is marked as incomplete. This is what messes up most people. You have a lot of freedom in this game. So if x wants you to get them something, you do the quest, then keep it at the end, you will fail the quest. Remember this. Thankfully Mel's quests are the only ones it matters for.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
100% satisfaction guarantee
Complete the base game with the Absolute Expertise
1 guide
During a certain chapter you will drink a potion called 'Absolute Expertise'. If you finish the game without curing it, this will pop. It is flagged in the walkthrough.

General Tips
I will not be telling you to do these things in the walkthrough, in order to avoid repetitiveness.
- Shops: Check every shop you encounter, including checking them all again every new chapter for new items. Upgrade equipment if you have spare funds but prioritize health potions, ice bombs, respec potions and resting at the inn until the late game. You will always find new/better equipment.
- Healing: Early on, it is much cheaper to rest at the inn. This also depends on how injured your party is. If you can fully heal them with a few potions then use potions. If you need 6+ potions and bandages, then rest at the inn. Money is scarce in the early game.
- Healing (Pt.2): If you can manage it, extend the battle longer to use your healing skills. If you have two to three party members with low health and one or two enemies left, try and delay finishing the fight using status effects like knockdown/stun. Now use your heal spells to get everyone to full or near full health. This saves a ton of money and time.
- Saving: Get into the habit of making a separate save before the fight begins, then another separate save right before you finish the last enemy. I will flag it if there is a back to back fight, but you should be in the habit of saving before the fight ends.
- Junk: Save the rope, egg and throwing chicken. The rest can be sold safely. [There is supposedly some use for gold items in the DLC, however I have not done the DLC so cannot confirm.]
- Exploring: As mentioned, fully explore every room, loot everything and do all the side quests. The more exp you earn and more equipment you get, the better off you’ll be.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Randomia Gauge
The Randomia gauge is your lifesaver in this game. Use it wisely and save it when possible for the harder fights. You really only will ever use the first two skills. An extra turn is extremely useful for a variety of reasons. I used it mostly to finish off enemies that were one shot. Healing is self explanatory, it is useful to revive anyone knocked down or if all your healing skills are in cooldown.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Exploration Controls
The controls were covered in the Tutorial but your basic exploration controls are all on the d-pad:
to check inventory.
to open map.
to highlight interactable objects.
to open skills page.
Useful Battle Controls
You can view basic controls in the settings. These are also covered in the tutorial.
- Using to take a custom path (waypoint). This is extremely useful. The game wants you to take the shortest path. Even if it means getting hit or risk slipping. Press to mark the path you want to take avoiding hazards.
- Press during combat to see a simple summary of all buffs/debuffs on everyone.
- Press to use your skills and to use your Randomia Gauge.
- Press to free aim. This is useful for any AOE, or if you need to attack objects.

Companions
Clear winner here. The priestess is the only one worth it. Obviously you can’t choose her on Ironman, but you NEED her healing for Nightmare.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Attributes/Skills
This section will cover the optimal builds and how to allocate stat points for each character. This is more important for Nightmare, but I will recommend following this also for the Ironman playthrough.
Attributes
Agility is God. Agility stacking is considered the way to go for this game. The game is heavily dependent on if you hit or miss each attack. On Nightmare, you will miss a lot. Agility is your balance to this. Respec potions are cheap later on so don’t worry about messing up. However, don’t go higher than 100 precision. I usually stopped around 92 (with equipment). Your main damage dealers are the Ogre, Barbarian, Elf and Wizardess. Add some points into their specific damage attributes occasionally. The Thief is only strong end game. Courage can be capped at around 19-20 for everyone, minus your buffers.
The early game is the hardest part of this game. Agility stack everyone except the Priestess and Wizardess. I had a 2:1 ratio of Agility:Courage until about Level 4, depending on character.
- Wizardess needs an even split going 1:1 ratio in Agility:Intelligence.
- Priestess (for Nightmare) needs Courage and Charisma only.
After that it is a normal RPG. The attributes that are red marked for each character are important ones. You want the Priestess, Ranger and Barbarian to act first, as they are your primary first turn buffers. The last to move should be Dwarf, as the Ogre's throw is really good. As usual, there is no one build that suits all. Some people have success with other builds, however Agility is the most common.
Skills
Focus Crowd Control (CC) (stun/knockdown/immobilize/scare/freeze), range, passives and healing spells are all essential. Get all healing spells possible, upgrade them and split up the status effect cures so you have a heal spell for every status effect. Get all the CC skills, but do not get any adjacent passives. Again, CC/Status is most important. If you have a choice to go with more damage/range or CC (for example, freeze is still the meta in this game as it gives 10% max HP damage x2 AND loses a turn), ALWAYS choose the CC path. The small damage increase you get doesn’t do much. You can save scum all you want on Nightmare to proc CC effects. When making these choices, keep these in mind:
CC > Range
Range > Damage
AOE Area of Effect > Damage
Phys Resistance > Magic Resistance
Phys CC Cure > Magic CC Cure
Freeze > Everything
Magic CC (freeze) > Physical CC if you have the choice
Precision Down > Any other Down stat
Most important non-healing active skills to have:
Ranger - Tatic:Protection (+20 to Phys/Mag Res), Shield Bash, Destabilizing Shot
Barbarian - Savage War Cry (+10 crit), Ferocious Pounce (stun)
Dwarf - Whirling Wallop (stun), Tin Can
Ogre - Dwarf Throw, Burps (stun/poison), Gnolo (stun)
Wizardess - Nazamrs Slap (great for chaining Opp Attacks), Whirlwind (stun), Snake (scared), Ice
Elf - Long Shot (immoblize),
Thief - Stealth, Nervous Burst, Caltrops (stealth)
Priestess - All Healing/Buffs
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saving
Now I will go over two super important things.
First is Nightmare save scumming. This is straightforward. Save before every new round and play it out. If you get some awful luck, you can reload that save and try to roll a different outcome. You can do this before a single turn, after a good outcome etc. Use this. This is not a game you can beat on skill. The RNG is so against you it makes the game unenjoyable. You can take this as far as you wish. For example: load saves until you get that clutch freeze/crit, then save again after to lock it in or reload after a critical failure.
Second is Ironman cloud save scumming. I will say it now. I personally do not condone doing this. I’ve never done this for any other Ironman games. However like I said this game is not skill based and you cannot save scum on Ironman. I did not feel like spending 30 hours only to lose to the final boss on some ridiculous RNG luck and wipe. However, you can do this as a last resort. I only did it for four fights in the entire game just in case I wiped or got a character knocked out. I will flag those fights and explain how it works for the first of the big four fights when you get there, if you have never done it before.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Strategy for Each Fight
Set up your party so the melee is front row, ranged is back row behind cover, and thief on his own somewhere. Use your buffs first turn. You always want to end turns facing enemies or behind cover. Never initiate attacks. Let them come to you. They love to try and flank your ranged units. You can overwatch instead of wasting a turn. There are lots of combos here to learn, such as knocking enemies away or making them scared to get free opportunity attacks. There are too many to cover.
For the latter half of the game you should always buff the team, then throw the Dwarf with the Ogre right into the middle of a group of enemies (prefer the boss or mages), stealth the Thief, then use ether tin can or a AOE stun with the Dwarf. You need the right party order for this. See above for courage. Close the gap to ranged units with Barbarian's leap, Thief's Stealth, and Ogre's throw.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Settings
When you select New Game from the menu, there are a few quality of life changes to make in the settings.
Tutorial: Default ON
- You can turn it off if it is your second playthrough. The walkthrough will have it ON, assuming it is your first time playing.
Assign Attributes automatically: Default OFF
- Keep OFF
Retain Random Seed:
- This setting means that your world is pre-determined when you start the game. If you get a critical hit on a certain turn/move, you will always get a crit on that turn/move if you reload the save. If you keep this off you can manipulate the RNG. KEEP OFF FOR NIGHTMARE.
Ironman:
- Can only choose this on Tavern Song. Turn ON for your Ironman playthrough.
Double check your settings and let’s begin! See you on the next page.
