Starter Items
If we take Doran's Blade, we do so to gain more attack damage for better autos and allow for more ability damage.
If we take Doran's Shield, we do this to have a little more durability and healing regen when looking to play safer.
Each of these starts can be very efficient and should depend on whom you are facing.
Core Items
Overlord's Bloodmail is an excellent damage option for Sett converting bonus health and missing max health into more overall damage in combat. A solid early to mid game buy for Sett to improve his dueling potential.
It builds on two essential things we need for Sett health & attack damage. Offers extra attack damage and also provides a shield, additional tenacity & size—a healthy option for durability in tough matchups or when taking duels and skirmishes.
Provides excellent value for Sett in the form of additional wave clear, sticking close to your target while still having plenty of dueling and skirmishing potential. A solid rush option in most games as Sett.
Situational Items
It is an excellent option for Sett, providing us with the stats we want for our build and two passives we can get behind, making it a very potent item in case you need a little chase-down and some % armor reduction.
As Sett, Blade of the Ruined King can be incredibly usefulon-hit option for early trading with other champions (ex: Fiora, Irelia, Sion or Darius. With each hit, you'll deal % current health damage and gain life steal. Additionally, on every 3rd hit, you'll steal movement speed. It pairs well with Knuckle Down, so consider adding it to your build.
Taking Chempunk Chainsword will give you attack damage/health, essential to increasing the scaling damage with Haymaker into the late game. An excellent grievous wounds option when dueling with champions such as Aatrox, Kayn ( The Darkin Scythe: Rhaast), or Gwen.
A great pickup on Sett. It is helpful when you need to chase down targets that use dashes or other forms of mobility to use as an escape. As you move, build up charges of bonuson-hit damage as physical damage when striking a target. Targets are then slowed by 50% for 1 second when you hit them at maximum momentum stacks.
With Death's Dance, store all the damage taken from all sources and begin to bleed over time as true damage. If you score a takedown while in combat, you will heal for a % of your bonus attack damage and stops the bleeding.
Very efficient if you're dealing with manyimmobilizing effects & some teams will have magic damage based abilities to go along with it. Additionally, this item can give sustained protection from burst damage champions like Brand, Morgana or Teemo, who have heavy dot damage-based play styles.
Using Heartsteel makes you exceptionally durable in team fights while also increasing the threshold of your Haymaker shielding. Allowing you to turn your health pool into a damaging tool against the enemy, making it an excellent buy with other health items (ex: Sterak's Gage, or Black Cleaver).
If you play a more split-push play style, completing Hullbreaker can be optimal, granting you increased damage to champions/epic monsters and to turrets. While in the lane, you buff all or your nearby minion's durability.
With Maw of Malmortius, you gain increased durability when dueling or fighting with magic damage champions. These can include Brand, LeBlanc, Vex, and Akali, who deal heavy damage from their combo rotations.
With Spear of Shojin Sett, can increase his uptime on Haymaker, improving his survivability and damage, making him a serious threat during team fights and duels with the enemy.
With Spirit Visage, you have a substantial purchase that synergizes with Sett. In addition, to the magic resist among other stats gained, increase the power of all healing and shielding strength, along with increasing Haymaker's damage.
Sundered Sky is an excellent damage/sustain option for Sett. An excellent choice when fighting tanks/bruisers such as: Malphite, Gwen, Sion, Fiora, Kayn ( The Darkin Scythe: Rhaast, or Darius.
Just be mindful of any grievous wounds effects that could be applied to you:
- Abilities: Varus's Hail of Arrows, Katarina's Death Lotus, Kled's Beartrap on a Rope or Singed's Poison Trail under the effects of Insanity Potion).
- Summoner spells: Ignite.
- Items: Chempunk Chainsword, Morellonomicon, or Thornmail.
Offers grievous wounds for Sett when struck byon-hit basic attacks. Beneficial into auto attack heavy teams and healing-based champions/abilities or items that pose a threat.
Great when looking to apply pressure on the enemy, making it difficult for them to handle your minion waves. It dealson-hit damage based on a percentage of your max health to your target and also deals additional max health damage to enemies behind your initial target.
Trinity Force is stong pickup for Sett, gaining increased dueling and skirmishing potential. It's a solid choice for split-pushing sidelines.
Very impactful when playing Sett since it increases Haymaker's damage, & provides more late-game pressure/durability. Its passive will regenerate max health per second once you have acquired enough extra health through items or runes. The regeneration effect will only apply after not taking damage from minions or champions.
Taking Wit's End provideson-hit magic damage & movement speed, decent attack speed, and magic resistance. This item can also help if you are in a duel with champions like Kayle or Akali, where you might need some durability and still feel relevant.
